It's Time

I had a brainstorm a couple of weeks ago, and this is the product of my storming brain. I made organizational scheduling hanging pockets, for lack of a better term. My kids have gotten into the habit (well, to be honest, I'm the one who got them in the habit) of watching a movie every morning to take up the hour or so of time where we don't have anything else to do. I get to relax, and this is the main reason the movie watching has been so hard to let go of.

I really don't like that my kids watch so many movies, but most of all I don't like that I am the one encouraging it. So, it's time to change.

There are three times on this hanging pocket thing and in each pocket for that time will be a card, or item, or do-hickey of some sort, representing the activity for that block of time. For instance, starting at 9am we will have school-time and in the pocket will be a card with a picture of the subject we will be learning about that day. Then 9:30 is room-time, and most of the time the kids will bring something into their room that is an extension of what we learned about in school-time. 10am is then an activity and each day has a theme...

Monday - cleaning and laundry day
Tuesday - service day

and so on.

So, that's the plan. It will take preparation for each day, which I can see myself wanting to quit doing, but I did it this way so Jeriah will be excited for what else he will be pulling out of the pockets and I won't want to disappoint him.

I'm kind of excited to get started!

THIS IS SO COOL. Did you make it?? I've seen stuff like that before on other friends' blogs, and I am always so blown away. Let us know how it goes, momma. And even if they aren't watching movies I hope you get to relax sometime!!
