We Did It!

It's been a little over a week now and Jeriah is successfully using the toilet on his own, both "1" and "2", without any accidents. Whew! I am amazed at how good it feels to have that largely out of the way, and that I don't have to change his diapers. Now the trick is to teach him that using other toilets, not just the home toilet, is just fine. Hmmm... how to do that...

I am also somewhat proud of myself that I stuck to it and accomplished this thing that I really really didn't want to do. I was motivated by exasperation and frustration at spending so much on diapers and knowing that he was capable of not wearing them, but when the going got tough I just wanted to quit. It was a tough week of controlling myself and not showing my frustration at all the messes and setbacks, and instead just encouraging him to do better next time with a smile on my face. Now, I'm taking my hands off and letting him ride on his own. I'll take care of the messes if they happen, but I'm not really helping him anymore. It's his responsibility now. Yay! I feel like I have accomplished something monumental, and what a feeling!

Congratulations!!!!!! That is a huge hurdle to get over and you accomplished it. Nice job! It's always so nice to get the first one over with--you'll find Lukas is going to be so much easier just because you won't be so uptight about it. I've always enjoyed that treat.

YAY! Good for you. Some people, their boys get to be FOUR or something before it happens. So you're doing very well.

I remember how wonderful it was going from two in diapers to only one. Congratulations!
