Update on the "Big Boy Bed"

It's a success! Well, so far anyway. We took the crib out of Jeriah's room and decided to just go for it. So, he has moved over to his big boy bed and tonite he went right to sleep! Amazing. It seems that the key with anything is always consistency, no matter what you take on with kids. I did the whole not talking, looking, giving him any attention, etc. thing and just put him right back in bed when he was violating the rules I decided were going to be in place. Tonite is the third night, and poof! He sleeps! There are some real experts out there and friends, family, and the internet are extremely valuable tools. Thanks to all who helped me in my confusion before starting this. It was more of a journey of the mind than in reality. I'm hoping potty training will be the same.

Speaking of potty training, if any of you out there have any wonderful ideas to help the process along, I'm all ears. It's one of my most feared aspects of kiddom and I keep putting it off. I just want to get it over with! Diapers stink... no pun intended.

Speaking of diapers stinking, literally, I seriously can't believe that Lukas can survive cooped up in his room after he messes his diaper. I can smell it all the way in the living room and when I walk into his room... Whew! I just about topple over with lack of fresh air. I am one of those moms who gag while changing her own kids diaper. I have about 5 candles in his room that I have used on occasion when it's especially bad. I really really really hope that isn't a lifelong trial with him. He doesn't seem to care, but I don't think I would be able to take it, let alone his wife!

I'm serious about any ideas about potty training my other, much milder, son. OK! Enough of talking about putrid stenches coming from my offspring.

How was everyone's New Year's?
